Job Description Engineering department infrastructure support.
The Engineering Global Services (EGS) Regional Program Manager (PM) will provide leadership and communications support centering on TechOps efforts in VMware Engineering sites in their assigned region outside of the San Francisco Bay Area in order to support the R&D Business Units.
The primary interfaces for the EGS PM are the regional (non-Bay Area) TechOps personnel supporting VMware engineering sites around the world. The EGS PM also interfaces with Bay Area IT TechOps, IT CorpOps and Facilities teams on behalf of the regional TechOps personnel.
EGS PMs are involved in projects for infrastructure, people moves, etc. as well as day to day operations for TechOps teams, budgets, and new hire equipment.
In addition to supporting the R&D business units, the EGS PM is the TechOps representative for IT, R&D, facilities or any other group’s projects around the globe affecting R&D facilities or personnel. The EGS PM leverages the best practices created by the TechOps PMO in order to manage their aspects of the project.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate technical planning for facilities build outs
- Coordinate efforts to resolve issues in regional TechOps managed sites
- Communicate and influence the priority of projects, requests and issues
- Be a focal point for managing SLA reports for the regional TechOps managed sites
- Provide periodic updates to customers regarding projects, requests, issues and special activities all in support of the regional TechOps managed sites
- Engage with IT M&A Project teams to bring on line newly acquired regional facilities
- In conjunction with the rest of the team, work towards maturing the offerings of the EGS Program Group through design and implementation of continuous improvement ideas
- Facilitate communication between regional TechOps and local TechOps personnel
Requirements:
- Demonstrated understanding of data center build outs and moves
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets
- Demonstrated coordination of people moves
- Ability to manage and measure Service Level Agreements
- Effective meeting facilitation skills and abilities to drive team participation and group decisions where the project team is not local to the PM
- Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently and deliver results in a fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven effectiveness in taking minimal guidance or instructions and working autonomously while driving projects to successful completion both on time and on budget
- Experience presenting and communicating to senior level management (i.e. Director level and above)
- Excellent teamwork and leadership skills
