Role Summary/Purpose
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, he will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities
• Develop new Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs as required
• Lead the validation of health, safety and environmental Frameworks to ensure 100% compliance with, state, and local regulatory requirements
• Drive improvements in site EHS culture, awareness, and accountability
• Lead efforts to operationalize EHS at site
• Ensure site personnel understand and comply with all environmental permits
• Plan and conduct EHS training
• Oversee compliance assurance program, perform site audits, and lead efforts with management team to implement corrective actions
• Conduct incident / accident investigations and develop corrective and preventative action plans
• Maintain EHS expertise to provide technical and regulatory support to Operations team
• Maintain site EHS metrics and work cooperatively with EHS HQ on various projects and initiatives, including GHG reduction, sustainability, and culture change
• Act as primary liaison with regulatory agencies concerning all EHS issues
• Actively contribute to the direction and content of site EHS programs
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 6 year’s experience in safety, compliance, or environmental programs with EHS systems)
Desired Characteristics
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or Environmental Science
• Prior experience managing environmental permits and culture change
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to lead process implementation in a team environment
• Ability to prioritize and balance multiple ongoing tasks
