Essential Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing legal leadership and strategic legal advice and compliance leadership to the Business leaderss in India. • Providing advice on a wide range of legal and compliance issues to other members of the legal and compliance team and the business, including customer and vendor disputes, intellectual property issues, labor & employment issues, litigation, compliance investigations and similar regional issues. • Structure, negotiate, and close complex transactions, bids, projects, overseeing outside counsel when they are brought in to assist • Advise the business on regulatory, privacy, antitrust, and advertising/promotional matters. • Provide regulatory and compliance advice. • Providing legal support and proactively improving GE’s commercial processes, due diligence and legal productivity, through simplification, standardization, model contract clauses and commercial contracting toolkits. • Manage and advise the legal team on other legal issues raised in commercial transactions or the contract negotiation process. • Select and supervise outside counsel on transactions, litigation, deal and compliance related matters.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Should be an LL.B. or equivalent from an accredited law school • Should have experience of advising on large infrastructure projects, tenders • Member in good standand and licensed in a jurisdiction to practice law. • Experience with Multi-national companies and associated legal issues. • Significant, sophisticated transactional experience and domestic and international contract drafting and negotiations, including joint ventures, licensing of technology and sales of capital goods and related services in India. • Superior negotiation skills and ability to work in complex international environment, substantial experience working on large and complex transactions, infrastructure projects, tenders. • Advocacy skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in writing and orally, an aptitude for practical negotiation, the capability to think clearly and quickly under pressure, and the composure to satisfy multiple and often competing interests. • Ability to resolve legal issues quickly and effectively and ability to make on the spot risk calls • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast paced environment • Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization • Strong oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • A work history that affirmatively demonstrates leadership and ability to persuade and push others to deliver on commitments. • Fluency (oral/written) in English and Hindi
