Role Summary/Purpose

This position would be of interest to an individual who is wishing to develop their expertise in the application of GIS to Utility organizations worldwide.

As a member of a team of Business Analysts you will understand and communicate customer needs, elicit requirements that fulfill the product vision and work with the software development and test teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential Responsibilities

- In this role you will work within an Agile team to develop and deliver solutions for GE Smallworld’s product suite. - Support Product Managers in eliciting business requirements from both internal and external customers to define product content and help formulate product roadmap.

- Plan and execute the requirements phase of new releases of geospatial products that are both customer focused and the platform for our industry specific geospatial products.

- Produce user stories and acceptance criteria that provide the detailed product definition for the development team - Manage the product backlog and assist in planning releases and iterations - Engage with customers to research and determine the most valuable stories

- Provide the development team with customer based subject matter expertise through the development lifecycle to validate design decisions

- Keep abreast of customers' IT environments and product configurations to provide input to architecture decisions - Maintain an awareness of other product developments with the organization to ensure compatibility and interoperability

- Participate in reviews to ensure that technical solutions will meet customer requirements - Work with Marketing Product Managers and other business analysts to develop a consistent set of standards for requirements gathering and documentation - Interface with external organizations & supporting functions

Qualifications/Requirements

- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (preferred) - 5+ years experience in developing requirements and performing business analysis for medium and large application development projects. Full software life cycle experience required.

- Understanding of software design and usability considerations.

- Experienced in the use of a requirements management tool, e.g. IBM Rational RequsitePro, or an Agile lifecycle management tool, e.g. Rally. - Experience in Agile methodologies such as Scrum, and experience in writing user stories as part of Agile team is a definite plus.

- Familiarity with Electric, Gas or multi-utilities and their application of GIS. - Must be focused on the delivery of customer value, in the form of helping build software that meets the customer's needs

- Must be able to interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management in both business and technical areas, with the ability to keep discussions at the appropriate level of abstraction
