Overview:
SUMMARY
To ensure that all shipments into and out of various Akamai locations are processed quickly and accurately. Coordinator is responsible for opening, tracking, and closing orders in any stage of the supply chain cycle. This individual will work closely with Akamai’s other Logistics Coordinators, other Network members, as well as a wide variety of outside shipment vendors to guarantee efficiency. Ensures continuity and coordination of efforts between Logistics, Network Engineering Operations and other departments within Network Infrastructure Organization. Order fulfillment experience is required, and crucial to the role. Position reports to Logistics/Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES
Accountable for the cost effective, efficient, timely and accurate Order Fulfillment (deployment, maintenance, and deconstruct) of all equipment, parts, and other material in support of Akamai’s worldwide server supported data centers.
Responsible for asset related activity in assigned region. Including, but not limited to, serial number changes, part number changes, asset deletion/addition, arranging pickups, scheduling deliveries, etc.
Schedules and revises shipment plans to ensure efficient distribution of products to satisfy internal customers.
Maintain relationships with international/domestic vendors and shippers to ensure swift delivery of equipment.
Monitor equipment inventories (flagging inventory discrepancies, correcting, and communicating activity to the group) and current order status
Display a strong sense of urgency in researching, tracking and correcting shipping problems, working directly with outside vendors to resolve issues in a timely and cost effective manner.
Accurately process all orders in assigned queue utilizing Siebel Sales (asset management database) in accordance with order creators’ requirements and department SLA.
Prepares import/export documentation in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. May be required to calculate value of duties and taxies due on transported goods.
Work with other internal groups to develop procedures to ensure accuracy of information in database.
Generate a weekly report detailing current week’s distribution activities.
Maybe required to produce and monitor metrics which will be used to improve operations
May occasionally be asked to undertake and/or participate in special projects by the Network Infrastructure management Team.
Assist in the creation and/or update of Logistics Policies and Procedures when required.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree
2-3 years related experience within the global distribution, order fulfillment and supply chain management industry.
Familiar with Advance Exchange Programs – parts replacement and repairs.
Good problem solving skills.
Ability to perform highly detailed work.
Strong computer skills with MS Access and MS Excel experience. Exposure to Siebel Sales a plus.
Experience with international shipping
Intimate knowledge of transportation industry carriers and service offerings.
